Techno, bass, far-out warehouse sounds

Uncharted Audio return to Ginglik, a venue with which it has had close ties over the last six years, to bring you three live acts from its roster, as well as dj support from Ginglik resident and label head honcho Kone-R and special guest Ginglik resident Stayhome… expect only the finest techno, bass, bleeps and far-out warehouse sounds – with that uniquely Uncharted angle! Live stuff kicks off about 9.30pm so don’t delay your arrival!

LJ Kruzer performs a rare live set this Saturday 16th of January as part of ‘Echaskech presents…’ which takes place at Concrete @ The Hayward Gallery on London’s South Bank. The event runs from 8pm-1am and entry is free. DJ support comes from Kone-R and the Echaskech boys themselves. Echaskech have contributed a special remix to the next u|a| release – news of which to follow very soon.

As for Kone-R, as usual when he’s not busy keeping the u|a| cogs turning he’s keeping the turntables turning, and he recently recorded a hot new and exclusive mix for the recently relaunched Delta 9 website. It’s been doing heavy traffic over the web already so why not add yet more strain to D9’s creaking server and download it here.

LJ Kruzer’s new album, Manhood & Electronics is now available in all good retail outlets, both physical CD and digital formats (or buy it direct from us and get both together). Those nice folk over at The Wire magazine have two exclusive reworkings of a couple of album tracks available for free download.

Also, LJ has confirmed for a single live show to back up the album. This will take place on Saturday 26th of September at London’s beautiful Union Chapel as part of the Daylight Sessions.

The event begins at midday and also features Michael Wookey on the bill. Entry is free so you have no excuse whatsoever.

All the mp3 downloads are totally free if you want the 128’s. If you want a heftier format, you have the option of paying money (you decide how much) or entering a zero amount and giving us your email address instead.

Part 0 of ‘Sunflowers‘, a frankly uncategorisable 5 part series brought to you by The Council Flats of Kingsbury. Your best bet is to get in a darkened room and turn it up loud. Part 1 to follow next week, with each ensuing part in the weeks after, all leading up to the release of the super limited debut LP next month.

Next up, the long awaited return of LJ Kruzer….

“LJ Kruzer and Uncharted Audio present the Tam Variations, eight engaging experimental versions of Tam, a piece which features on Kruzer’s forthcoming album “Manhood & Electronics“. Each variation is the end result of methodical sequences of sound processing exploring all the possibilities of computer manipulation of digitised sound data – stretching, squashing, restretching and resquashing giving the concertina’d timbres of Tamz; filtering, distorting and reverberating backwards and forwards to create the rough textures of Tamx and Tamxr; modulating brown noise with the source audio to give Tamb; and simple stretching and reverberating resulting in the billowy melancholy of the collection’s opener Tam814. Manhood & Electronics is set for release as a CD and download on Uncharted Audio on June 29th 2009.”

5KG – 5 Years of Kone-R @ Ginglik

This week marks five years of Kone-R and Uncharted Audio’s hook up with West London’s finest beat bunker, Ginglik. To celebrate we have a special event there this Saturday and Kone-R has put together a free mix for you all to download. Here’s the word from the man himself:

“Strange to think it’s been five whole years since I first took to the Ginglik turntables, but then it’s crazier still to think it’s been more than seventeen years since I first attempted to blend a pair of records… all I can say is it’s been an absolute pleasure! On the 9th of May I’m going to mark those five years of residency with an extended set covering all my usual bases across the night, from electro to techno to old skool breakbeats – plenty of bass, bleeps and vibes, from cutting edge newies to  stone cold classics, I’ll also be using serato to complement my vinyl selections in public for the first time – all the better to increase the mayhem.

To all those people down the years who came, saw, danced, cheered, or just sat and listened… THANK YOU

New records ahoy!

First up, years after volume one first graced the racks of record stores worldwide, volume two of our ‘Dub Plate Sessions’ 10″ series of dancefloor stormers is dropping in early November. This one is brought to you by one of our favourite collaborators, Mark Streatfield, under his Cyan341 alias, a dubby slice of techno with added wonk. On the flip, the man like LJ Kruzer brings the remix pressure with a deep and brooding 4/4 outing.

More good friends drop fresh vinyl – Octavcat, spread though they are across England, Wales and Norway, deliver what is surely one of the best electronica albums of the year in the shape of “Hard As Snails“. Available mid-November on blue vinyl and a slightly extended digital version.

Finally on the new release front, our good buddy Wil who did such a sterling design job on the Signals series (as well as providing the fab label art for UNCHDUB2) has designed a brand new t-shirt for us. It’s available in various sizes and printed on good quality Fruit of the Loom shirts.

The Uncharted shop has all these items available for purchase right now, and the vinyls will be in all good record shops next month. Digital versions will be appearing on Bleep, Juno and Peoples Music Store in due course. The tees are exclusive to the Uncharted shop.

Next up on this sizable news update, John Callaghan has a free EP available for download. We suggest you head to the Rebellious Jukebox website and download “Thirty Years On The Dancefloor” without further ado.

Finally, massive congratulations are due to both LJ Kruzer and Wil Russell and their respective partners on the birth of baby boys, William and Luca respectively! Champagne and cigars all round :O)

We’re going on until 3am with the finest in electronic beats. See exactly what we all stand to lose if the council gets their way!

First up, a word about gigs.

Kone-R is going to be busy in August, with two resident dates at Ginglik on the 9th and the 23rd. Keep an eye on their website for more line-up info – it’s now got a 3am license so even more bang for your buck!

Additionally you can also catch the ua head honcho dropping techno science on the turntables for the peoplesmusicstore launch party as part of nitefreq on Friday the 8th – playing from 4.30 til 6am at Jack’s near London Bridge, this event also features such legends as 808 state, Arthur Baker, i-f and DMX Krew so not to be missed! Apparently jacks has had a total refurb and is now state of the art, so make sure you get down to this.

Finally and not least of all, uncharted have hooked up with our good friends at rednetic to start off a new electronica showcase called microclimate. This one is a Thursday evening, the 21st of August with thoroughly civilised hours, taking place on a boat on the thames and costing only 3 quid. The first instalment of microclimate doubles as a release launch party for our next shiny vinyl – The Dub Plate Sessions Vol. 2 (five years after the release of Volume 1 – sorry for the delay). This one sees Cyan341 who some of you will already be familiar with from the signals 7″ series dropping some serious mechanised tech, backed with a deep and lush remix from LJ Kruzer. You want this! 10″ vinyl and download coming soon – watch this space.

Whilst we’re on the subject of new releases, Octavcat’s album “Hard as Snails” is currently being mastered and will be next to drop on nice blue vinyl and download, followed by Line’s much anticipated debut lp, which is in the final stages of mixdown. And bloody fantastic they all are! We’ve got loads more in the pipeline as well – busy days ahead!

So what have we been up to apart from organising all this good stuff? Well, we’ve recently extended our digital reach – you can know find most of the back catalogue available for download at Juno – including a couple of configurations not previously available on download, notably unch003 in it’s entirety. We’ll also have catalogue available on peoplesmusicstore when it launches next month, an exciting new download service/online community, be sure to check it out.
